Senior Copywriter, Owned Channels
Messy spend management is tricky business. And tedious processes are a lose-lose situation for all involved, not just finance. At Pleo, we're changing that. We build spend solutions that make managing money seamless, empowering, and surprisingly effective for finance teams and employees alike—with a vision to help all businesses ‘go beyond’.
The word ‘Pleo’ actually means ‘more than you’d expect’, and living by that mantra has been the secret to our success over the last 10 years.
Now, we’re at a pivotal moment in our journey; every move we make has a direct impact on our 40,000+ customers, our business, and our collective success. We need people who take pride in uncovering customer needs, who turn complex problems into simple solutions, challenge the way things are done (respectfully), and always aim high. With great ambitions driving us forward, we can’t say we’ve got this whole thing figured out. And frankly, that’s half the fun! What we can say is that we’re a driven, progressive, and, importantly, a kind bunch of 850+ people from over 100 nationalities, all committed to delivering the future of business spending, together.
About the role
We're looking for a Senior Copywriter, Owned Channels to join our Content Marketing team at Pleo. In this role, you'll help own and evolve the narrative arc of the Pleo customer journey and be part of the Marketing team as we scale from a ‘card provider’ to a full-suite spend management platform. If you're excited about bridging the gap between creative strategy and CMS implementation and are passionate about fintech and B2B SaaS, then this is the opportunity for you!
Who you’ll be working with and reporting to
You’ll report to our Director of Brand & Content Marketing and work closely with teams in Product Marketing, Growth, and Engineering. Our team of 11 is highly collaborative and dedicated to creating a seamless, high-converting experience across all owned channels. You’ll also have the chance to partner with teams across SEO and Brand to ensure our voice remains consistent across all customer touchpoints.
What you’ll be doing
As a Senior Copywriter, Owned Channels, you will:
- Lead the narrative for Pleo's website by writing high-converting headlines and benefit-driven subcopy that simplifies complex fintech features.
- Collaborate with Growth Marketing teams to develop innovative email sequences, onboarding flows, and re-engagement campaigns that drive conversion.
- Optimize Content workflows by acting as the "power user" for our CMS (Prismic), streamlining the process between PMM drafts and final implementation to free up engineering resources.
- Translate Product into Story by turning technical feature releases into human-centric stories that resonate with busy CFOs and finance teams.
- Analyze performance data to inform copy decisions, optimizing CTAs and subject lines without sacrificing brand integrity.
To put things into context, we currently have a full website migration and automated lifecycle overhaul on our roadmap. You can expect to work with the following tech stack: Prismic (Headless CMS), Figma, HubSpot, and Notion.
What you bring
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
- 6+ years of experience in copywriting, specifically within high-growth tech or SaaS.
- A solid understanding of the difference between awareness, intent, and conversion copy.
- A deep understanding of UX Writing Principles – how copy influences user behavior and digital navigation.
- Experience with headless CMS (like Prismic) and the ability to manage content workflows independently.
- A sophisticated approach to AI: you use it for speed but have the human touch to strip away "AI-isms."
- A background in Fintech or a proven ability to translate complex financial concepts into simple, witty prose.
- Native English speaker, other languages hugely beneficial.
Why is this role a good fit for you
This role is a good fit for you if:
- You’re passionate about getting under the hood of the CMS to make sure copy is perfect.
- You hate friction. You’re excited about the challenge of fixing a fragmented workflow and making the creative process more efficient.
- You crave impact. You want to see how your words directly move the needle on conversion rates and customer retention.
This role is not a good fit for you if:
- You prefer a "hands-off" approach. If you only want to write the copy and "hand it over" without touching the CMS or Figma, this won't be the right fit.
- You struggle with technical complexity. If you can't find the "human" angle in a spreadsheet, you'll find it tough.
- You’re an AI-purist. If you rely solely on LLM outputs without heavy editing, our brand voice will lose its edge.
How you’ll develop in this role
In your first 6 months at Pleo, you’ll:
- Lead the copy audit of our core landing pages to drive impact in our self-serve conversion funnel.
- Collaborate with Engineering and PMMs to improve our Prismic workflow, reducing the time from "draft" to "live."
- Grow your skills in Lifecycle Marketing, taking on the challenge of personalizing the customer journey as the company continues to scale.
We’re committed to helping you develop your career, whether that means taking on bigger projects, stepping into leadership, or acquiring new skills.
Please note: We can hire on a remote, hybrid or in-person set-up in any of the locations listed on the advert but you will need to be physically based in the country of your choice with a valid right to work. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role in any of the listed locations.

The interview process
We want to ensure you are set-up for success and understand what will be expected of you. If your application is successful, our interview process is as follows:
- Intro call: A 30-minute chat with our Talent Partner to discuss the role and your background.
- A 45-minute interview with the hiring manager
- A case study challenge, presented to a stakeholder panel
- A final interview with our VP of Marketing
Transparency is important to us so we also wanted to share some insights about what we’re looking for in applications to ensure you can set yourself up for success!
Last time we hired a Senior Copywriter, we received a total of 300+ applications but only 14 were selected for an intro call. Some of the key reasons why previous candidates didn’t make it past the application screening stage include:
- CV writing and content: we receive a lot of CVs, and many of them are AI-generated. We love seeing people leverage AI—it’s a big focus for us internally too—but without human intervention, these CVs can sometimes become generic and fail to show a candidate in the best light. What we're really looking for is the specific details of real impact that only you know from your previous experience. A top tip from us is to use the “Achieved X, as measured by Y, by doing Z” formula (credit: Laszlo Bock, ~2014) to give a really clear picture of what you’ve worked on. A final note: including links to your previous companies' websites is a huge help and allows us to truly understand your background!
- Application care: every single application we receive is reviewed by a human (yes, hundreds of them) because we believe that candidates' efforts should be matched by an equal level of human care. This means that we expect a similar level of attention put into your application. Read and answer the application questions carefully, they make a huge difference in our decision-making process.
- Profile to role fit: highlight most important aspects of the role, points that might get misunderstood, any specific industry requirements etc.
About your application
- Please submit your application in English; it’s our company language so you’ll be speaking lots of it if you join 💕
- We treat all candidates equally: If you are interested please apply through our application system - any correspondence should come from there! Our lovely support team isn't able to pass on any calls/ emails our way - and this makes sure that the candidate experience is smooth and fair to everyone 😊
- We can only achieve our goals if our team reflects the diversity of the world around us - and that starts with you, hitting apply, even if you are worried you might not tick all the boxes. We embrace and encourage people from all backgrounds to apply - regardless of race/ethnicity, colour, religion, nationality, gender, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability, neurodiversity, socio-economic status, culture or beliefs.
- When you submit an application we process your personal data as a data processor. Find out more about how your data is used in the FAQs section at the bottom of our jobs page.
